NUTELLA AND MASCARPONE PIZZA

February 5 is World Nutella Day! In honor of that, here's a recipe that you will make over and over again! That's a promise!

I don't know anyone who doesn't love pizza. So what could be better than a dessert pizza? This decadent dessert pizza is oozing with chocolate and hazelnut goodness and a creamy cheese. When I was in Italy last year, I had this at a little hole in the wall pizzeria. It was so rich and delicious! This recipe uses a cheese called Mascarpone. It's a cheese that originated in Italy. It's a mild and creamy cheese that spreads like butter. It's used in quite a few dessert. It is the key ingredient in Tiramisu. The flavor is milky and slightly sweet, sometimes with a tangy finish. Mascarpone has a high fat content which gives it a rich, buttery flavor. The star of this pizza, however, is the Nutella. Who doesn't love Nutella? This chocolate and hazelnut spread is a favorite in millions of households across the world. The combination of the cheese and Nutella create a whole new level of flavor heaven.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package store-bought Plain Pizza Dough (I get mine from Trader Joe's.)

  • 8 ounces Mascarpone

  • 16 ounces Nutella

  • Powdered sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 475 degrees F.

  2. Roll open the pizza dough. Place in pizza tray and right into the oven for 5 minutes until half baked.

  3. Pull out the tray from the oven, add Mascarpone and Nutella to half of the dough, and fold dough over.

  4. Return to oven for 10 minutes.

  5. Remove from oven top with powdered sugar and strawberries. Serve immediately!
